“Credo che ogni artista debba essere libero di creare il proprio mondo usando le ‘parole’ che ritiene opportune. Queste parole compongono un’unica narrazione, che può interrompersi, riprendere, dividersi in parti anche molto diverse tra loro (scarti improvvisi, negazioni di un prima che non ci convince), ma alla fine si compone in una sola articolata struttura, più o meno lineare. A volte schizofrenica. Ma la riconoscibilità credo stia nelle linee profonde che legano questi vari punti. Chi ha voglia di cercarle, le può trovare”.

Nata nel 1971 a Piacenza, dove vive e lavora.
Claudia Losi utilizza una varietà di mezzi espressivi che abbracciano installazioni, sculture, video e lavori su tessuto e carta. Dopo gli studi all’Accademia di Belle Arti e presso la Facoltà di lingue e letterature straniere di Bologna, l’artista piacentina focalizza la sua ricerca sulle relazioni tra uomo e natura, e sull’esplorazione come esperienza di conoscenza, interessandosi da subito a progetti pluridisciplinari che intrecciano scienze naturali, etnologia, geologia, cartografia, poesia e letteratura. Fondamentale nella sua opera è l’azione del ricamo, strumento prediletto e poetico che richiede manualità e precisione. Tra le opere più celebri nei primi anni Novanta, ci sono una serie di lavori di arte partecipata basati sulla volontà di coinvolgere un gruppo di persone a eseguire dei ricami. La maggior parte dei progetti ideati dall’artista nascono anche dall’incontro con un luogo che lentamente prende la forma di un’opera.

“I believe that every artist has to be free to create their own world, using ‘words’ that are considered appropriate. These words, compose a unique narration that can itself interrupt, resume, divide in parts very different from one another (sudden remains; negations of a first trial that doesn’t convince us), but in the end composes itself in just one articulate structure, more or less linear. A times schizophrenic. I think being recognisable, lies in the profound lines that bind these various points. Who’s willing to search them, can find them.”

Born in Piacenza in 1971, where she still lives and works.
Claudia Losi uses a variety of expressive media, embracing installation, sculpture, video and works on fabric and paper. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts and at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literature in Bologna, the artist from Piacenza focused her research on the relationship between man and nature, and on exploration as an experience of knowledge, immediately taking an interest in multidisciplinary projects that intertwine natural sciences, ethnology, geology, cartography, poetry and literature. A fundamental aspect of her work is the action of embroidery: a cherished and poetic medium that calls for manual skill and precision. Among her most famous works from the early 1990s are a series of participatory artworks based on the desire to involve a group of people to carry out embroidery work. Most of the projects conceived by the artist also arise from her encounter with a place that slowly takes on the form of a work.
